Provincial Team Prep Session Recap
November 21st marked the last of four Provincial Team Prep Sessions. The goal of the sessions was to help athletes from across the province sharpen their skills and provide them with a toolbox of skills and drills to practice at home, to prepare for the upcoming Provincial Team Tryouts. We also wanted to give athletes who don’t plan on trying out for Nova Scotia teams, an opportunity to develop as their club and high school seasons get started.
We saw over 180 male and female athletes from across the province attend the sessions in Halifax, Shelburne, Sydney, and Cambridge. Colter Simmonds, our Technical Director, led the sessions with the support of Patrick Havard, (the head coach of the U18 Men’s Canada Games team) who ran the sessions in Sydney.
Athletes who attended the sessions were put through various drills to refine their shooting, ball handling, and passing. They were also given the opportunity to compete amongst each other and work on their decision-making by participating in competitive, game-like drills.
Thanks to all the athletes who attended! We enjoyed seeing athlete representation from various parts of Nova Scotia. Our staff at Basketball Nova Scotia are looking forward to seeing athletes from across the province attend our Provincial Team tryouts and compete for a spot on our Nova Scotia teams!
If you have any feedback for this year’s Prep Sessions, please feel free to express your thoughts to our Operations Manager, Emma Duinker firstname.lastname@example.org, as we consistently aim to improve our programs to better serve our athletes, coaches and parents.
