Host a Provincial

Championship!

Each Summer, Basketball Nova Scotia hosts Provincial Championships for U12, U14, U16 and U18 girls and boys club teams from all over Nova Scotia. Clubs from across the province have an opportunity to host a championship and represent their club within the community.

Responsibilities

Basketball Nova Scotia is responsible for:
  • All team registration, communication, seedings & schedules
  • Nova Scotia Basketball Officials Assignments (Referees)
  • Gym bookings and payments
  • Tournament Host Package (includes banners, medals, etc.)
  • Scores updated and posted on website
  • Be a resource and support for the host
  • Social media promotion of your club
Host club is responsible for:
  • Acquiring and scheduling volunteers & table officials
  • Capturing photos of the event and sharing them with BNS
  • Be the key contact on site + pre-tournament and communicate with Head Coaches
  • Make it fun! Provide warm-up music, local gifts or sponsor involvement from your community!
  • Ensure all games stay on schedule
  • Facilitate selection & presentation of Tournament All-Stars & Tournament MVP
  • Ensure all COVID-19 protocols are followed

2022 Provincial Championship Hosting Application Form

Upon submitting this application, clubs/associations who apply to host, agree to do so regardless of seeding.

Clubs/Associations selected to host a championship will be responsible for the following:

  • Acquiring and scheduling volunteers & table officials
  • Capturing photos of the event and sharing them with BNS
  • Be the key contact on site + pre-tournament and communicate with Head Coaches
  • Make it fun! Provide warm-up music, local gifts or sponsor involvement from your community!
  • Ensure all games stay on schedule
  • Facilitate selection & presentation of Tournament All-Stars & Tournament MVP
  • Ensure all COVID-19 protocols are followed
  • Blocking off enough hotel rooms to accommodate 8 teams

The gym costs will be covered by BNS and will not exceed ______. Any costs exceeding ______, will be the responsibility of the tournament host. BNS will be responsible for booking the gym as requested by the host.

*NOTE: All applications must be completed and submitted no later than ______________.*

Hosts will be allocated based on the time at which the application is submitted, and that their plan fits the requirements/standards to host events (ie. safety, 3pt line, two venues/courts, accommodations, etc.). Although a club/association might be first to apply, if the club/association does not meet the requirements, BNS has the authority to allocate the tournament to another club/association that does meet the requirements. There will also be considerations made regarding the number of metro hosts vs. the number of rural hosts to ensure equity across the province.
