Provincial Team
Coach Application

Basketball Nova Scotia runs a very extensive High Performance program each year. Through this program, we are able to identify the best basketball players in our sport throughout the Province. This provides an excellent opportunity for our youth to represent Basketball Nova Scotia at a Provincial, Atlantic, and National level. Provincial teams train and compete frequently throughout the spring and summer months, and participate in various tournaments throughout Canada and Eastern U.S., including two of our teams (U15 and U17 Boys/Girls), who participate at the Canada Basketball National Championships. These events allow our athletes to display their talents in front of top-tier NCAA, USports, and CCAA scouts and coaches.

Our 2021 – 2022 season will be unique as this will be the first year we are operating a Provincial Team season since 2019. Therefore, we will have teams competing at Canada Basketball National Championships & the 2022 Canada Games (rescheduled from 2021). Details on practice times and commitments are not confirmed, but at this time, we are asking coaches interested in these teams to commit to the following:

TIME COMMITMENT & COACH EVALUATIONS

  • September 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26 & Oct 2, 3
  • *Coaches will be required to attend at least one of the following dates as the start of their evaluation. Ideally they attend multiple and work with our athletes on court and lead a session to be evaluated by our Coach Selection committee (Committee TBD).
  • 1-2 weekends throughout October – December
  • *Coaches could also be asked to attend sessions on the weekends from October to December to work with a smaller group of invited athletes to complete their evaluation.

Coach evaluation metrics will be available and shared with all those interested in the evaluation process at a later date.
