Results

Our Canada Games teams both competed hard and had some tough, close match ups. Here are the results:

U18 girls – Finished with a 3-3 record placing 6th overall.

U18 boys – Finished with a 5-1 record, capturing a bronze medal in a close match against Alberta. The medal was the first medal for Nova Scotia Basketball at the Canada Games, since 2009!

Both teams have been competing hard and we’re close to the end!

The girls team beat team New Brunswick in a hard fought, nail biting, tie breaker, to advance to the fifth place game tomorrow. Stay tuned for the time of that match up.

The boys team compete tonight in a tough semi final match up against team Ontario.

CANADA BASKETBALL NATIONALS

The 2022 Canada Basketball U15 and U17 Nationals were held from August 1-6!

Basketball Nova Scotia had four teams competing in the National competition – U15 women, U15 men, U17 women and U17 men’s teams. The women’s tournament was hosted by Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, QC with the men’s competition being played at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB.

We’re really proud of our teams, athletes and coaches for their accomplishments throughout the week.

Below are some notable results:

U15 girls – Made history by becoming the first Nova Scotia U15 girls team to make it to the National final! Our girls battled hard against team Ontario but fell short. The girls came away with a National silver medal!

1st team all-star – Gabby Morash

U15 boys – Finished 4th overall after a gritty win vs. Manitoba in the quarterfinal match.

2nd team all-star – Amari Upshaw

U17 girls – Finished 5th overall with a record of 4-2.

U17 boys – Finished 6th with a record of 3-3.

2nd team all-star – Kanan Christmas
