On April 12th, 2021, a new range of dynamic and active weekly youth wheelchair basketball programs will begin at St. Andrew’s Community Centre in Halifax.

In collaboration with Parasport Nova Scotia, Easter Seals Nova Scotia, and Halifax Regional Municipality Recreation, Basketball Nova Scotia is excited to help introduce the fundamentals of wheelchair basketball to Halifax youth in the form of two unique programs: Learn to Wheel and Jr. NBA.

Learn to Wheel teaches kids aged 7-15 the fundamental skills and movements of wheelchair basketball, while Jr. NBA focuses on the basics of the game for ages 8-15. Both programs – taking place one after the other – are fun-focused introductions to the game of wheelchair basketball for kids of all abilities.

This initiative was made possible by a Support4Sport grant which allowed Basketball Nova Scotia to purchase 14 new Quickie Court youth basketball wheelchairs, which are available for use by participants.

The Learn to Wheel and Jr. NBA wheelchair basketball programs will take place every Monday, starting April 12th, 2021, and run for eight weeks. For information and registration, contact joannebernard@easterseals.ns.ca (for Learn to Wheel) or parasport@sportnovascotia.ca
