Provincial Team Program Review - Athlete & Coach Surveys
Basketball Nova Scotia (BNS) is currently reviewing its Provincial Team Program (PTP) and its role in supporting the development of high-performing basketball athletes in Nova Scotia.
The environment in which athletes develop has changed considerably. Athletes now have access to a growing range of clubs, academies, camps, travel teams, prep schools, and other development opportunities. These changes create both opportunities and challenges and raise important questions about the role PTP should play within the overall high-performance development pathway.
Rather than focusing only on adjustments to the current program, BNS would like to step back and consider a broader question:
What do high-performance athletes in Nova Scotia need to develop and succeed, and what role should the PTP play in supporting their development?
Athletes and their families bring an important perspective to this conversation. Your experiences can help us better understand what supports athlete development, the challenges athletes and families face, and where PTP can provide the greatest value in the future. The results of this survey will also help identify issues that may be explored more deeply through subsequent focus groups and discussions.
For the purposes of this survey, high-performance athlete development refers to supporting athletes who have the interest, talent, commitment, and potential to compete at increasingly higher levels of basketball, including provincial, national, university/college, and potentially international or professional levels.
The survey should take approximately 8-10 minutes to complete. Individual responses will not be attributed to respondents, and findings will be reported primarily in summary form.
