Basketball Nova Scotia (BNS) is committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for the physical and mental well-being of every individual that is involved in the game of basketball in the province of Nova Scotia. In addition, BNS is committed to creating a healthy, fun, accessible and inclusive environment in which athletes of all ages are able to live up to their full potential.
As part of this commitment, BNS takes situations involving misconduct or maltreatment very seriously and is enacting and enforcing strong, clear, and effective policies and processes for preventing and addressing all forms of misconduct or maltreatment.
Working in collaboration with Sport Nova Scotia, the following Safe Sport Policy Suite has been developed and approved by the BNS Board of Directors as a mean to lead and govern the safety of the game of basketball.

The Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) is the core document that sets harmonized rules to be adopted by sport organizations that receive funding from the Government of Canada to advance a respectful sport culture that delivers quality, inclusive, accessible, welcoming and safe sport experiences.
