Basketball Nova Scotia member clubs are required to complete seasonal club registration and participant registration through RAMP. This helps BNS confirm club information, participant membership, insurance records, Safe Sport compliance, coach tracking and communication for the season.
Clubs should complete their seasonal Club Submission and confirm that athletes, coaches and applicable team staff are registered in RAMP before participating in club activities. Registration is important for membership tracking, compliance and insurance confirmation.
Basketball Nova Scotia membership is organized by season. Clubs should ensure they are registering for the correct season before opening registration or beginning club activities.
September 1 to April 30
May 1 to August 31
* Any clubs and athletes that require an earlier start date, please email BNS
Before opening registration to families, clubs should review the following items:
All clubs must complete their seasonal Club Seasonal Info Update form in RAMP. This step is separate from creating registration packages.
The Club Submission helps BNS confirm club contacts, seasonal information, compliance requirements and membership/insurance tracking. If your club has already started setting up registration packages, please still return to this section and complete the Club Submission if it has not already been done.
All athletes, coaches and applicable team staff must be registered in RAMP before participating in club activities.
BNS insurance is managed by season and coverage is tied to the individual participant. Athletes, coaches and applicable team staff must be properly registered in RAMP for the applicable season.
A facility-related issue, such as someone slipping on a wet floor, is different from confirming whether an athlete, coach or staff member is covered while participating in club basketball activities.
If an athlete or staff member is not registered in RAMP, BNS may not be able to confirm that the person was an active registered member at the time of an incident. A dated registration record is important because it allows BNS to verify:
Please ensure all athletes, coaches and applicable staff are registered before they participate in club activities.
Insurance certificates are available for registered member clubs by season. Clubs may need certificates for school boards, municipalities, facilities or rental agreements.
Please ensure your Club Submission and participant registration setup are complete before requesting insurance documentation. For information on insurance limits or coverage breakdowns, please contact the BNS Executive Director.
Once the club or program registration process is complete, clubs will be invoiced based on the number of athletes, coaches and applicable staff registered.

This may include activities such as:
This option does not apply to:
Basketball Nova Scotia may request clarification about a program's purpose and may require conversion to standard club membership if the activity is deemed competitive or club team based.
Clubs must ensure their Staff Registration package is active for the current season. All coaches and applicable team staff should register through RAMP so required information can be collected and tracked.
Coaches are required to provide their NCCP number as part of registration. Coaches who do not already have an NCCP number can create an account through The Locker:
Coaches are required to complete free Safe Sport Training:
RAMP can process Enhanced Criminal Record Checks / E-PICs through Triton as part of staff registration. The current cost is $25 per person, and the check is valid for three years.
Clubs may choose whether the club pays the cost or the coach pays during registration. A separate Vulnerable Sector Check is not generally required in addition to the Enhanced Criminal Record Check, although clubs may choose to request one.
Before opening registration, clubs should confirm that all registration packages:
If your club plans to accept credit card payments through RAMP, you must have a SportsPay account connected to your RAMP registration system.
If SportsPay is not set up, do not select credit card payment as an option. If you are interested in setting this up, reach out to Ramp Support to talk to them about getting it set up.
If your club accepts e-transfer or other offline payments, clubs are encouraged to ask families to include the athlete's name with the payment so payments can be matched to registrations.
Clubs may wish to include financial assistance options during registration so families know support may be available.
If your club provides uniforms or apparel, you may want to collect sizing information during registration.
Sizing questions can also be added to staff registration if your club provides clothing to coaches or team staff.
Clubs may include applicable policies and acknowledgements within registration. Many of these are included for the player registration inside the season but must be added at the club level.
Clubs should complete a test registration before opening registration to families. This allows your club to confirm that the setup is working as expected.
