Role 1: Communications & Digital Content Assistant
The Communications & Digital Content Assistant is a full-time summer position (35 hours per week for 8 weeks). Some evening or weekend work may be required. Time off in lieu will be provided. The role will support the delivery of high-quality communications, digital content, and event coverage throughout the summer season. Responsibilities include social media execution, Canva content creation, photo/video capture, digital asset management, and website updates.
Ideal for students in communications, digital media, graphic design, or sport marketing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Digital Media
- Create graphics, promotional materials, and templates using Canva.
- Capture and edit photos and short-form videos at BNS events.
- Assist with athlete, coach, and program spotlights.
- Maintain and organize the BNS digital asset library.
Social Media Planning, Scheduling & Systems
- Develop a 3-6 month content calendar with themes and captions.
- Create paired graphics, reels, and promotional assets.
- Assist in implementing a scheduling platform (Later, Buffer, etc.).
- Schedule posts to support automated content delivery.
- Track engagement analytics and provide insights.
Social Media & Communications Execution
- Draft and publish posts aligned with BNS priorities.
- Support timely event updates and announcements.
- Assist with email communications through RAMP.
- Support website updates as needed.
Event Communications & On-Site Support
- Provide real-time content coverage at tournaments and practices.
- Assist with event logistics and signage.
General Support
- Collaborate with BNS staff on communications planning.
- Assist with duties assigned by the Events & Communications Lead and Operations Team.
Skills & Assets:
- Experience using Canva for social media and graphic design.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Knowledge of social media platforms.
- Ability to capture and edit photos/videos.
- Enrolled in Communications, PR, Digital Media, Sport Management, or related field.
- Experience with social media scheduling tools.
- Familiarity with Canva Pro, Adobe Suite, or CapCut.
- Experience with WordPress or basic web updates.
- Sport or volunteer experience.
Role 2: Events & Operations Assistant
This full-time summer position supports the delivery of BNS events, including the Scotia Showcase Tournament, High Performance camps, 3x3 events, and community programming. The role includes event logistics, on-site support, equipment management, and participant communication.
Ideal for students in Sport Management, Events, Recreation, or Business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Coordination
- Assist with planning for summer tournaments and programs.
- Support facility scheduling and event timelines.
- Prepare event materials, signage, and equipment.
On-Site Event Operations
- Provide on-site support at tournaments and camps.
- Assist with setup and takedown of venues.
- Ensure signage, scorekeeping, and equipment needs are met.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Organize and track BNS event equipment.
- Maintain inventory and prepare equipment for upcoming events.
Event Communications Support
- Distribute event information to clubs and participants.
- Prepare maps, schedules, and program materials.
Skills & Assets:
- Enrolled in Sport Management, Recreation, Events, Business, or related field.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in busy event environments.
- Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
- Availability for evenings and weekends during events.
- Experience in sport or recreation environments.
- Event delivery experience.
- Transportation access.
- Basic comfort with tools like Excel or Canva.
